INFO

Name: Nevi
Gender: Female
Species: caracal cat
Bio: Nevi is a bubbly, adventurous, young girl that won't take no for an answer. She's responsible, a bit sassy, jokingly cocky, but overall, she's caring for those around her. She loves any type of seafood and goes fishing on the pier in her free time. She's the firsthand in her crew with another one of my OCs and other people's OCs. She can be a real dare devil most of the time and doesn't mind getting her paws dirty.
Overall, Nevi is an outgoing, sassy, daring and considerate sailor.

BACKSTORY

(Note: She was born without the squid on her head)

The Nelson Valleys were once a very peaceful place of tranquility, until slaves became a trend. Hundreds of citizens of their quiet, little villages were taken away by the small "government" on the other side of the valleys. (Keep in mind that these aren't desert valleys. Just imagine Iceland) Only few people, including my family were able to escape on a small pirate ship. It was the Victorian period of the world so of course, fancy apparel everywhere, except for me. I prefered something a little more with the sailor style. I had been fascinated by the captain of the ship and other sailors that we saw on the way to search for new land that I wanted to be a sailor so I had to dress like one.
One hazy day, a fatal illness swept through the ship skipping over me, my father, and a few other runaways. The captain of the ship and my mother were killed by the cruel virus.
What were we going to do without a captain, though?

My father had little experience as a sailor captain, so he took the wheel. He eventual got the hang of it and traveled West. There, we found an island that looked somewhat friendly. My father tied the ship to an empty dock and the other runaways and sailors tumbled out of the ship to freedom, but we were wrong. We were all haulted by a group of royal-looking guards that separated each of us apart. I was taken to a dirt enclosure with a cabin. I waited there until I saw a gray tabby cat come out of the cabin. He closed the door behind himself and made his way toward me. I became a alarmed and ran for the locked gate.
"Get me out of here!!!" , I hollered for help. The gray tabby cat gently, tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and saw the cat beckoning me toward the center of the enclosure. I hesitantly followed him. "What are you going to with me?" , I stuttered and balled up on the ground. The cat grunted.
"No questions, please." , the cat demanded annoyed.
"My name is Quince. You will do as I say." , Quince said sternly.
Quince turned out to be a very kind teacher to me, but if I hadn't been scared out of my mind to disobey him, I would've been dead by now. Quince formed me into a true, well trained sailor/pirate. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I was freed from the custody of Quince and let back to my father.
"Don't get too comfortable in the village! I have a job for you soon!" , Quince warned me before I left to see my father again. I was guided by a royal guard to the village of the small kingdom.
"What job is Quince planning for me?" , Inquestioned the guard.
"I am not aloud to tell you." , the guard said blankly as he stared toward without expression. I was then disappointed and stared at the ground instead.
"But I do know that you need to be ready for danger." , the guard belted out even though he shouldn't have.
"Oh." , I whispered. I knew that the guard was helping me so I slowly leaned closer toward him.
"Thank you." , I whispered. The two came to an intersection in the village. Four cobblestone roads were seen with a couple of shops and street lights. People socialized, kids played, and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. The vibe passed to me and I felt good too, until I I I saw my father across the intersection.
"Father!!" , I cried as teers streamed down her face. I bolted toward him and flat out tackled him. We giggled and hugged. It had been four months since we had seen each other.
A royal guard directed us to our new home where we rested and told our stories of what happened to us.
That night, Quince came back that night and gave me two daggers.
"What are these?" , I questioned half asleep.
"Come with me and you'll find out." , I followed quince to a very large dock that looked like it stretched for miles. There were ships tied along the dock on either sides, but the largest one was the one that I needed to board. We went aboard the ship and I saw a few other sailors and pirates there.
"What on earth are we doing?" , I panicked.
"Just go with it." , another sailor muttered to me. Quince took the wheel of the ship and before we knew it, we were off.

While the other sailors attended their responsibilities without a problem, I slid to and fro by the rocking of the ship. It had been a while since I had been on a ship in the water and Inwas half asleep so Inhad no control over where I was going. I eventually gave up and sat down.
At some point, I noticed another ship in the distance.
"What's that?" , I asked out loud.
"The enemy." , Quince replied. "We need to defeat them for your first mission." ,Quince said again. I was fully awake now.
"I'm not ready for this!!!" , Insnapped at Quince.
"You are ready. You just don't realize it." , Quince replied blankly. I didn't talk back, but sat and shed a tear instead. I was scared.
Eventually, we made our way to the ship.
"Fire the first cannon, Nevi." , Quince demanded.
"What?" , I replied in confusion. I had just been in a daze.
"Just do it!!!" , Quince hissed. I ran for the cannon and saw that the cannons were already filled. I fired the first one that unfortunately missed the enemy ship.
"All hands on deck!!!" , Quince shouted to is sailors. The rest of the crew came tumbling out from inside of the ship.
"A little help here!?" , I called to the other sailors. Two other sailors came to my assistance and the three of them went firing at the enemy ship. Quince took me by the badge on my neck and we climbed up the lookout tower.
"Jump." , Quince ordered.
"I can't do that!" , I was shivering with fear now. Quince grunted and tied a rope to my stomach/back area. He pushed me off of the lookout tower, hoping that I would slip out of the ropes and land on the enemy ship, but instead, I slipped and fell overboard. As I plummeted into the water, I kind of sat there in shock and utter exhaustion. I felt slimy tentacles wrap around my face. It was obviously an abnormally sized squid. I struggled to pull the pest off of myself. I managed to slide the squid to the top of my head. I still couldn't get it off of me and realized that I was losing my breathe, so I swam upward, planning to deal with the squid later.
"Help me!!" , I called to my "crew" after reaching the surface. I saw a wooden life raft drop from one of the ships, but I didn't see which one it came from. Ingrabbed it anyway and was rescued by the enemy ship. As my feet lay steadily on the wooden flooring of the ship, I dripped in freezing, cold water. Right then, all swords and guns were pointed at me. I remembered that I had two daggers given to me by Quince. I checked to see if they were still there, and surprisingly, they were. I pulled them out in hopes of intimidating the enemies, but it made no difference. I was very confident that this was the end, until I had an idea of pure luck. I crouched and slid underneath the crowd of pirates and managed to injure one of their legs. The enemy crew turned around and began ganging up on her once again. This time, they crouched too, so I jumped over them. I was only stalling because I didn't know how I was going to do anything with two, small daggers. Then, I had it. Lying next to the cannons were a box of matches and gasoline. I made a run for it and did what the next person would. Catch the ship on fire. I did so and attempted to escape. I tried to jump from the enemy ship to Quince's but nearly failed and hung on to the railing of Quince's ship for dear life.
"Quince!!!!" , I called for my captain. Quince rushed to me and grabbed me by the badge around my neck. I was breathing heavily and then began to break into tears.
"Thank you, Quince!!!!" ,I wailed. Quince grinned hesitantly and hugged me back.
"I would be dead without you!!!!" , I wailed again.
"We would be dead without you." , Quince replied. I turned to the crew to see all eight of them with warm grins and tears in their eyes. I grinned back and began crying even more. I remembered that I caught the enemy ship on fire and turned around to watch it. It was somewhat beautiful. All until one sailor of the enemy crew managed to take his gun and shoot at Quince's crew before he died. Unfortunately, the bullet shot right at my right eye. Quince's crew panicked. Quince ran straight for the wheel and turned the ship back to his kingdom. Jack, the lookout sailor took me down to the medical room of the ship. I was given a Sand Dollar eyepatch.
"Now you really are a pirate." , Jack claimed.
"I guess I am." , I stifled the tears.
When we got back to the kingdom, I was officially a part of the king's crew (Quince's crew) and celebration rang through the town. My cowardly personality changed to the opposite and she was now ready for everything and anything. All thanks to Captain Quince.

One late Sunday night, I had been having a hard time sleeping. I tried every position I could, but I still couldn't seem to find the slightest bit of drowsines. I decided to sneak out instead. I quietly got out of my small bed and clothed myself in my sailor's attire. I opened my window as silently as possible and tip-toed out onto the padio roof. I made sure to close the window behind me. I leaped to the ground right after. The chilled air brushed against my fur. It felt good. I made my way for the harbor when I was stopped by none other than Quince.
"What are you doing out her so late?" , Quince questioned me.
"I'd ask you the same thing." , I replied sassily.
"I'm looking for a friend, but I do need to talk to you." , Quince explained. He walked toward the harbor expecting that Inwould follow.
"What friend are you looking for so late at night?" , I asked accusingly.
"I'll explain." , Quince said as he untied a small sailboat from the dock.
"After you." , Quince said warmly. I carefully got into the boat as Quince followed. Together, we sailed not far from the island, but just enough that the island was only a sillhouette.
The waters were unusually calm at the time.
"What were you going to tell me, Quince?" , I asked.
"Well..." , Quince paused, hoping that I would notice the phenomenon going on right around them.
"I was going to give you the option to start your own sailor's crew or stay in mine." , Quince explained. I began to look frantic. I hit the side of the boat in a fist and stood up.
"I want to stay with you!!!" , I cried. A look of utter surprise had shown on Quince's face. Quince ran his paw through his hair and pulled out a small amulet with a star on it.
"Keep this in your pocket, lass." , Quince ordered. I took the amulet confused and looked over it thoroughly.
"Why do I need this? And what is it?" ,I questioned.
"The star amulet means that you have something important to do with the king. That would be me." , Quince stated.
"You're officially the firsthand sailor of my crew." , Quince mentioned kindly.
"Are you sure that I don't need some kind of training first?" I stated questionably. "Firsthand is a pretty important job." , I said with low self esteem.
"You already proved to me that you're a true sailor. So the choice is yours." , Quince explained. I thought for a moment and began to think about what had happened the month before. How I set the enemy ship on fire, lost my right eye, and even got a squid stuck on my head. I grinned confidently now and grasped the amulet in my paw.
"I accept!" , I exclaimed and stuck the amulet in the pocket of my shirt.
"That's the spirit, lassie!" , Quince shouted joyfully.
"Just one more thing." , Quince said. Charity tilted her head confused.
"Look." , Quince said as he pointed at the water. All around them was what looked like a pool of the galaxy, but it was actually very small plankton, glowing. The bioluminescence.
"Pretty isn't it?" , Quince remarked as he pulled out a ukulele. He began to play a cute little tune as I gazed at the beautiful scene. I looked up to see the stars all showing in the night along with a half moon.
"Wow." , I sighed, amazed. I looked back at the water and shoved my hand in it. I felt slimy scales brush up against my paw. I then impaled a medium sized fish, took it out of my claws, and nibbled on it as I listened to Quince's subtle tune and gazed at the Galaxy above and below me. What a night.
